Matteo Risi is 22 years old and is a student fisheries engineer. He has been fishing practically since he could walk. His grandfather introduced him to fishing in his small pond, with old reels, a sinker and some basic natural baits. He received an education in contact with nature and the water and this bond has only grown stronger over the years.
It was around the age of 10 that Matteo became interested in fishing with lures and he never left it. Because of (and thanks to) his studies, Matteo has been traveling around France for a few years, which has given him the opportunity to fish in various environments.
He likes all types of fishing, even if he has a strong preference for fishing in natural environments, far from the noise of the city and its houses. Matteo loves in particular the fast fishing in wading that it is in search of the asps in the Loire or the pikes of gravières. His little pet peeve: light fishing with surface lures, strong sensations.
His father being Italian, sea fishing is not unknown to him either, mainly that of the tassergal from the shore.
Matteo had the opportunity to realize his first road trip in 2022 in Mexico. It was for him the opportunity to track the roosterfish on board, but also to work on sharks with a local NGO. He is also involved in everything related to the protection and study of our fish and aquatic environments, whatever they are. Matteo militates, for example, for the transition to the alternate mesh for pike in all the federations that have not yet implemented it.
