A new sector
I'm no stranger to the river I'm fishing, but the section I'm exploring is! The section of river in question lies between two dams, about twenty kilometers apart. For the first ten kilometers downstream of the highest dam, the river is shallow and relatively narrow at certain points.
It then widens a little, but it is mainly at depth that it increases, with relatively steep slopes. The section tested for this first discovery is located on this second part, i.e. the deep zone.

Autumn is a special time to fish, because although it's often a good time for a feeding frenzy, variations in water temperature complicate the search for fish. In fact, fish tend to congregate and change their areas of frequentation, leaving some areas totally deserted and others with localized fish.
There's still some vegetation and I notice a few fry around the edge, which leads me to believe that some edge fishing is still possible.
As for the lure I use, I don't take any risks and start with a safe bet: a glide-bait in fire tiger color. This reference is also excellent for pike fishing.

Initially, the idea is to see if there are any fish, and then adjust the lure and/or animation. So I just bring it back slowly at a constant speed.
The answer to my main question, whether muskellunge inhabit the area, is not long in coming. Indeed, when passing close to a weed bed, a muskellunge starts following the lure, and a "stop and go" is enough to make it attack.

The rest of the day is rather quiet, with several missed attacks, but the main thing is to have the answer to my question, so I can plan to come back to deepen my knowledge of the place.
Observation
The low, clear waters of autumn also give us information to prepare for the coming season, and it's always interesting to imagine what certain areas become during flooding or the summer season.

For example, during this session, I noticed two gently sloping areas with lots of vegetation, where topwater evening fishing during the summer would be a good thing to try.
Autumn
Autumn is synonymous with leaf fall, and you may find yourself with leaf-covered areas on the surface of the water. In this situation, such areas should not be neglected, as they are frequented by fish.

The only condition is to use a lure that can be worked with the rod low, and to plunge the tip into the water so that the whole banner is also in the water. Once the cast has been made and the lure has hit the water, give two or three sharp blows with the scions to quickly plunge the banner into the water to protect the whole line from the leaves, and thus fish effectively.
