Various natural baits
The most effective natural baits for carp are :
Tiger nut: it's a hard seed, rich in carbohydrates and low in protein, much appreciated by carp. It does not dissolve quickly in water and eliminates certain pests. It is also a natural bait, as carp often throw back undigested pieces, attracting other fish. Tiger nut is particularly effective at the start of the season.
Sweet corn : very attractive, especially in cold weather or at the start of the season. Corn is easy to prepare and attracts both carp and other fish, which can be a disadvantage if there are too many white fish. Often used as a bait or on the hair.
Earthworms : very natural, protein-rich traditional bait. It attracts carp naturally as they feed on larvae and worms. However, it doesn't hold well on the hook and ends up dying in the water.
Grey shrimp: particularly effective in lake environments where carp feed on small molluscs and crayfish. It holds well on the hook and allows you to stand out from the crowd.
Wheat: a good, inexpensive bait, it attracts carp and other fish. Ideal for creating a zone of activity, prepared by soaking and cooking.
Chickpea: uncommon but appreciated by large specimens. Holds well on hair, available in cans, practical and effective.

These natural baits are appreciated for their attractiveness, their naturalness and their ability to create effective baits for carp, depending on the season and fishing location.
Other baits such as sweet and fruity baits can also be effective, depending on conditions.
Various artificial baits
Artificial baits that complement carp fishing include several types commonly used by carp anglers to diversify their strategies and increase their chances of capture:
Artificial pellets : rich in fish oil and fish meal, they come in a range of sizes (from 1 mm to over 24 mm) and can be used as bait or directly on the hair, although they dissolve rapidly in summer.
Dumbells: made from the same ingredients as boilies, these baits come in a variety of shapes and colors, including floating or balanced versions, making it possible to change the classic presentation.
Floating pop-up boilies : these boilies float above the bottom, attracting the curiosity of carp, especially in congested or muddy areas where the bait does not sink into the mud.
Floating artificial corn : used alone or in combination with other baits, it attracts carp with its visible yellow color and buoyancy.
Frolic: a dog food rich in proteins and oils, highly attractive to carp, often used for baiting. Dissolves rapidly in warm water.
Artificial maggots : mimic real maggots by emitting vibrations in the water, strongly attracting carp.
Other realistic artificial baits: artificial tiger nut, small polymer worms, pieces of cork and many others, offering good durability and a credible imitation of natural baits.
These artificial baits stand out for their durability, their ability to remain attractive for longer, and their versatility in different set-ups. They also avoid certain problems associated with natural baits (rapid degradation, pest attacks, conservation).

The choice of bait will often depend on the season, the type of water and the fishing strategy. At the start of the season, for example, baby corn pellet is recommended, while boilies are versatile all year round.
