The first edition took place in 2024, and the second challenge will take place on September 06. The MUSTELLUS project consists of tagging spotted emissoles in different sectors of French waters in order to improve knowledge of the ecology of this species, and the challenge is part of this approach.

Fishermen and scientists

For several years now, the scientists at the head of the MUSTELLUS project have been working with volunteer recreational anglers, who have been trained by them to help with the project. The Challenge is part of this project and, through this tagging day, provides an opportunity for all those concerned to meet.

The aim is to create a friendly gathering around the sport of emissole fishing in order to :

  • Mark, measure and weigh as many specimens as possible in the Aulne estuary to help better understand the movements of this species.
  • Motivate new recreational fishermen to take part in the project and raise their awareness of sharks and rays.
  • Publicize the MUSTELUS project and APECS actions.

This second edition is open to kayak, boat and shore anglers. No fewer than 80 anglers, divided into 34 teams, will meet on September 06. The magnificent meanders of Térénez, on the Aulne maritime, at the foot of Landévennec Abbey, will be the playground, as it was for the first edition.

This year's event is supported by a large number of sponsors, including local and national sponsors, of course, as well as well-known brands in the recreational fishing world: Brestfishing, Parc naturel régional d'Armorique, Communauté de communes Presqu'île de Crozon, Aulne Maritime, Mairie de Rosnoen, Comité des Fêtes Rosnoen, Ministère Écologie Territoires, Fonds de dotation Océanopolis Acts, H2air SAS, La brasserie du bout du monde, Kerfil, Rapala, Mercury Marine France, Flashmer Salt Water, Loch Monna-Dalh Mad, Geronimolagadec tee shirt&deco, A l'Aise Breizh, Wood And Sea Brest, Biscuiterie de la Pointe Saint Mathieu, Terre d'Embruns, NaviOuest, Navicom Crew, KENT Marine Equipement, Lowrance, Guy Cotten, Parc naturel marin d'Iroise, Galaxykayaks France, Aquarium De France UCA, Hénaff, Daiwa France, Purefishing EU, Cabesto, Océanopolis, Amiaud, Evo sailing, Le tour du Monde, Fiiish, Stb Powerline, Biocoop Finisterra, Brest Ocean Boat, Mecamer, GUNKI France, Les Viviers de Térénez, Sunset Fishing, Fonderie Lemer, Fonds de dotation la poule rousse.
