The author
Charles-Antoine Roucayrol has been a fishing enthusiast since childhood. It was his parents who instilled in him a passion for fishing and travel. As a result, he developed his sense of the water on some of the world's finest fishing grounds. Charles-Antoine also enjoys taking on big fish, and has caught nearly a hundred fish over 100 pounds, including an IGFA world record.
Fishing, traveling and writing are all part of Charles-Antoine's philosophy of life.

"My first surprise was the equipment used by Duvan: first of all, extremely powerful fishing rods, around 4 metres long, from the "Assassin" brand, a brand I'd never heard of. These rods are real triques. Then, more classic, big Shimano reels with fixed drums and several hundred meters of thick monofilament. Now I understand why Duvan told me there was no point in bringing my own equipment: even my most powerful surfcasting rods look like twigs next to the Assassin models. Similarly, there's no need to think about fishing with casts or poppers: you can do it all with surfcasting.
