Pro-Staff / Robin Allié: "Believe in your dreams and desires, work hard"

Pro-Staff #35 -Robin Allié, aka Powpit, is Pro-Staff for the Amiaud brand. An avid sea angler, he diligently pursues lure fishing in search of beautiful fish in France and abroad.

Hello Powpit, can you introduce yourself to Fishing.news readers?

Hello everyone, my name is Robin Allié, my nickname on social networks is Powpit. I've been a passionate Catalan fisherman since I was a kid. I mainly fish at sea in kayaks or boats. And I'm crazy about fishing trips where I aim to discover and add new species to my Pokedex!

Can you tell us about your early days in fishing?

Like many sea anglers, I started with surfcasting and bait fishing from a boat. Then, for over ten years now, I've been fishing almost exclusively with lures.

When, how and why did you agree to become a Pro-Staff?

I'd say that, at the start, it was rather the opposite. It was the brands that chose to accept me and put their trust in me, in particular the Amiaud family.

I love testing new products, getting feedback and feeling useful to help the brand and my community progress and make fish!

What does being an ambassador mean to you?

For me, it's all about promoting equipment that we like and trust. In order to make it known and, above all, to ensure that it is of high quality and effective on a daily basis through our community and the various social networks.

What's your fondest memory or anecdote from your time as a Pro-Staff?

I think I'll always remember it as my first GT carangue popper on a pirogue in the middle of the Indian Ocean!

Just a crazy and memorable memory after losing the first one and my morale more than cracked. I managed to find the necessary resources to reverse the trend and bring out this magnificent trophy fish! Or a magnificent 10 kg humpback off the Canary Islands on a tiny boat with waves of almost 2 m !!!! I wondered if I'd make it back alive (laughs).

When I start telling fishing stories, it's hard to stop. Like any enthusiast, every angler has an incredible story to tell!

What do you think of fishing in France?

I'm going to talk exclusively about the sea, which is where I come into contact with on a daily basis. I think sea fishing is getting harder and harder and fish are getting rarer and rarer. We usually get a good hit every other day, trying, testing and changing to find the lure that's going to work.

It takes a lot of mental fortitude and patience to fish at sea these days and that's a shame, but the future worries and concerns me...

Any advice for anglers who want to join a Pro-Staff team one day?

I'd tell you to believe in your dreams and desires, but I'd also tell you to work hard for it. Nothing is hard enough for someone who has the desire. The problem now is that we're in a society where we want everything quickly, but fishing partnerships take time.

First of all, a lot of people make the same mistake: they send out requests to different brands without really testing the products or creating content beforehand.

Choose a brand, go fishing, create content and make them want to recruit you. Then, once you've done your homework, knock on the right door! Many people go the other way, and that's not good.

Don't get discouraged, work hard and keep in mind that you're having fun! Be consistent over several months or even years, and above all, listen only to yourself - you're the only one in charge of your choices. Have the desire to fish and, above all, inspire the desire to fish! The importance of the 3 P's: Practice / Progress / Pleasure.
