InReach Mini 2
The inReach Mini 2 is a satellite communication beacon. It is small, about 5 by 10 centimeters (antenna included), for about 100 grams. Its construction is robust and it is waterproof to IPX7 level, that is to say that it can be immersed under 1 meter of depth for 30 minutes. It has a battery life of between 14 and 24 days, depending on the selected operating mode.
Functions
The main interest of this beacon is to be able to send and receive SMS on any phone, anywhere, as long as there is a satellite coverage. Thanks to the Earthmate application, you can use the sms function of your smartphone as usual, and the beacon takes care of sending and receiving the SMS.
The inReach Mini 2 from Garmin also has other functions, such as compass, weather, trackback, which allows you to find your way, or a GPS function, which works with the same application: Earthmate.
Finally, the Garmin beacon also has an SOS function, which can be activated in case of emergency. This is connected to a 24/7 emergency response coordination center.
Prices and Subscription
This module works with a subscription. In addition to the purchase of the device, which costs 399.99 euros, it is necessary to take a subscription. It is possible to take a subscription for 1 month or 1 year. The price of this subscription varies according to the options chosen and its duration.
