Activity before the break
At the beginning of October, the temperatures are still mild. It would be a shame not to take advantage of it. All species are active before the winter break for many of them. This is usually the time when I insist on using big soft lures on the spots with pollack or bass. The fish do not hesitate to attack large prey. The lures type sand eels are then very effective.
I use talashads that imitate these fish, with different weights depending on the depth. Always looking for the lightest weight, it is one of the bases of success of all fishing techniques.
Look for the lightest rig and the most adapted to the conditions of the spot. I fish on funds of 20 to 40 mètres, there are still very beautiful days and in addition to the lees and bars, other species are also interested in it like the gurnards, big tacauds, codsâeuros¦.
Diversify fishing techniques
The lower coefficients are conducive to fishing with tenya and kabura, the paddlefish are still there, especially the prettiest, as well as the beautiful gray. Here again, always in search of the lightest rigs, I rarely exceed 30 grams for tenya. For baits, do not change what works, for me, the prawns is the king bait, followed by squid tentacles and scallop beards.
This is a good thing, because cephalopods are also very present. You will thus be able to get bait at a lower cost. Since the end of the summer, they have returned en masse to the roadstead of Brest and put the jigs to a severe test.
Cuttlefish are not left out and octopus are still there (no closure on this species in Brittany). This year, they swarm, and it is very difficult to avoid them when fishing with tenya with a gambas, so look for them specifically with the appropriate equipment. Of course, swimming fish are always effective too, take with you bib lures fishing in different depths, my last outing in the roadstead of Brest showed me that the deeper the lure swam, the more beautiful the catches were, we will say that they share the spaceâeuros¦

Don't forget to take advantage of the high tides by leaving your kayak on the foreshore. Since the beginning of the month, the collection of scallop shells is again authorized, sleepers, shells of all kinds and abalone can also be collected.
