The 3R System, an innovative trick to secure catches
Rapala still manages to surprise us by developing a lure arming system: the 3R System, for Rapala Release Rig System. The main objective of the 3R System is to reduce the risk of stalling during combat and to secure the holds.
Concretely, when the fish is hooked or when it is head-butted, the armament separates from the body of the swimming fish. The pike thus has less possibility to lean on the lure to get free. Other significant advantages: the release of the catch is easier, and the lure will be less damaged during fights (even if the Haku made of ABS plastic is already very resistant by nature).
Very easy to put back in place after a catch, the system is composed of 2 triple hooks of size 3/0, linked together by a 100 lbs titanium cable. The armature is integrated in the lure in a ventral groove, which does not impact its swimming.
Animations and swimming of the X-Rap Haku
The Haku is classified in the category of glide bait, a lure that glides or glides therefore, quite playful and rather easy to operate underwater. On a simple linear and slow retrieve, the lure will make small discrete lateral deviations, a natural S-swim to fool the distrust of predators.
By making the Haku work a little more with small twitches, by releasing it between each stroke of the saw, the lure will jump from one side then the other. On Stop and Go actions even more jerky, its wide lateral swings while sliding imitates perfectly a panicked fish on the run, or a prey injured during the oscillations of the lure during stops.
It is mainly the pike which will be targeted with the Haku, even if some nice perches also let themselves be tempted by its behaviour... If the dimensions of the Haku seem to predestine it to the capture of big fishes, some fishes of more "modest" size do not hesitate to attack this beautiful prey.
Note that the VMC Coastal Black 3/0 triple hooks have an anti-corrosion finish, so Haku is also designed to seduce marine species, for example with the Artistic Burbot, Blue Ghost and Smelt on the Beach models.
To sum up
The X-Rap Haku is a jerbait to be tested absolutely. Without going back on its very well thought out weapon system, the Haku is pleasant to handle and very efficient on pretty fish. The X-Rap Haku is well finished, like the rest of the X-Rap range, and affordable for this type of glide bait.
