A trick for recycling unusable lead heads

For economic and ecological reasons, it's always a good idea to make your small fishing tackle last as long as possible, and even to recycle it when it becomes unusable in its current state. Here's a tip for transforming lead heads with rusty or broken hooks.

Fishing, like many passions, is an activity where the addition of accessories quickly becomes expensive. With the rise in lead prices, leaded heads are becoming increasingly expensive and remain a consumable item. So, to avoid unnecessary pollution, here's an excellent way to recycle them when the hook is broken, rusty or simply open and therefore too fragile.

To make this assembly, you will need :

Step 1

Using the wire cutters, cut the hook so that only the straight part of the shank remains.

Step 2

Slip your lead head into a soft lure and glue it in place with a glue tip.

Step 3

Using a piece of braid, fluorocarbon or reinforced pike braid, make a loop slightly shorter than half the lure.

Step 4

Pass your loop through the eye of the hook then pass it back through itself to connect it to your jig head.

Step 5

Pass the loop through the eye of the treble hook, then pass two legs of the treble through the loop to hold it in place. To adjust the length of your stinger, you can wrap the braid around the shank of your treble hook before passing the legs of the treble through the loop.

Step 6

Now all you have to do is stick a branch of your triple on the back of your soft lure and you're ready to fish!

Variant

For pike, which often attack from the side, and if the area is not too crowded, you can cast your triple to the side or use two stingers with two triples for large lures.
