Fish indicators
Seabirds such as gulls, terns and petrels are often seen diving and feeding in groups. These behaviors usually indicate the presence of schools of fish near the surface. Fishermen use these signs to locate potentially rich fishing grounds. By following the movements of seabirds, fishermen can anticipate the movements of schools of fish. For example, birds that fly in circles or dive frequently can indicate the activity of hunting fish.

A compendium of knowledge
This atlas is the first compendium of knowledge dedicated to breeding seabirds in the French overseas territories. The French Overseas Territories include regions such as French Polynesia, New Caledonia, the Éparses Islands, and others, each with its own unique biodiversity.
This beautiful book compiles scientific information and observations on these species. A total of 139 taxa (species and subspecies) are the subject of an illustrated monograph. The book covers various seabird species that breed in these regions. It includes extensive information on their biology, behavior and breeding habitats.

The atlas contains detailed maps showing the distribution of species across different territories. It also discusses the threats facing these birds, such as habitat loss, pollution and climate change, as well as ongoing conservation efforts.
The book is richly illustrated with photographs and drawings of the birds, as well as depictions of their habitats.
This atlas is a valuable tool for scientists, conservationists, birdwatchers and fishermen. It provides an essential database for future research and the implementation of effective conservation strategies.
