Mercury Marine France and Pêcheurs de l'Estran join forces for the Fécamp Open Bar

Mercury Marine France is strengthening its commitment to the sea fishing sector by partnering with Les Pêcheurs de l'Estran, the association that has organized the Fécamp Open Bar since 2017.

L'association des Pêcheurs de l'Estran

The Pêcheurs de l'Estran association, a member of the FNPP (Fédération Nationale des Pêcheurs Plaisanciers), was created in 2011. Its aim is to promote "lure fishing" by encouraging sensible, reasoned fishing, and of course to raise awareness of the need to respect the environment and protect species.

The 150-strong Pêcheurs de l'Estran association has four sections: a boat section, a kayak section, a seaside section and a freshwater section. The association organizes numerous fishing competitions.

Fécamp Open Bar

The Fécamp Open Bar saw the light of day in 2017, with 25 boats taking part in its first edition. In 2018, the event expanded to two days, bringing together 45 crews. In 2019, the competition took off, welcoming 60 crews. Since then, the competition has welcomed 60 crews every year.

The Fécamp Open Bar, which sold out in just a few days, will take place on August 31 and September 1, 2024, departing from the port of Fécamp.

Maurice Duranthon, Managing Director of Mercury Marine France, explains the aim of this partnership: "Mercury is historically very involved in freshwater and saltwater sport fishing. The brand has been a partner and initiator of numerous sport fishing projects for many years. For example, Mercury Marine France supports Sailtica Fishing, a sea bass fishing competition organized every year in May or June at La Turballe. We have also been an official partner of Grand Pavois Fishing, providing substantial resources and facilities for several years.

Yann Diquerreau, Marketing Manager at Mercury Marine France adds: "We've organized Mercury Fishing Days in freshwater and at sea for several years running. Today, we are co-organizing with the FFPS (Fédération Française des Pêches Sportives) the MFC (Mercury Fishing Cup), which in just one year has become a benchmark event in France. With this new partnership, we aim to strengthen our commitment to this type of event, support local players and organizers, while bringing greater visibility to the Fécamp Open Bar among one of France's largest boating and fishing communities."

Benjamin Duval, sport sea angler in Seine-Maritime and Mercury ambassador, played a key role in initiating this partnership. He emphasizes the local aspect and underlines the link between the presence of the new Mercury dealer, l'Atelier du Plaisancier, and the development of the brand locally. "I take part in the competition every year, alongside the best sea anglers in the department and the north of France, in the hope of improving my ranking." His proactive approach led him to put Mercury Marine's French subsidiary in touch with the organizers of the Fécamp Open Bar.

Jonathan Genin, co-creator of the event with Guillaume Viel, and in charge of the competition on the water, shares: "We were approached by Benjamin Duval a few months ago and appreciated his approach. It's always an honor to have such an important brand as Mercury interested in our event. We're delighted to welcome Mercury as an official partner of the Fécamp Open Bar. We're immensely proud, especially as Mercury can offer us increased visibility."
